Born in Dayton, Ohio, Bruce grew up with a love of the outdoors around his rural midwest home and he also loved tinkering with cameras. After a succession of new homes, new schools, and new friends he arrived at the University of Cincinnati's College of Design, Architecture, and Art in the Industrial Design program. Throughout his career as both a product and graphic designer, photography had always been and always will be his passion.

Working for a book publisher as a photographer and graphic designer, Bruce has created over 2000 book covers ranging from antiques to tattoo arts. After 40 years in the business of design he has concluded that his design work has made him a better photographer by using a collection of observations made over a lifetime of seeing.

Living the past 18 years in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, has afforded Bruce an opportunity to photograph a very unique people, the Amish. His photographs penetrate the private camera shy world of this religious sect with the rolling hills and pristine farms of the Amish creating another opportunity for landscape photographs.
